The New Bern Amateur Radio Club (NBARC) hosted its first Winter Field Day at the Filling Station on January 28th, 2023. This field day event is held to give amateur radio operators (HAMS) all over the world a chance to test their radio equipment outdoors and under alternate power to simulate field use in case of emergency. Our weather was perfect by most standards for any time of year, but especially for the last weekend of January. We had a wonderful turnout from club members and interested folks from the community. Coastal Women’s Shelter held their annual Prayer Vigil on Oct 27th in the newly renovated space. The music, sharing of stories, and learning more about how to advocate for victims of Domestic Violence. We celebrated our friend Lisa Moore who is retiring from CWS after 23 yrs.
