Amateur radio operators to gather Nov. 22 for National Traffic System training at The Filling Station

POLLOCKSVILLE, N.C. – Amateur radio operators and emergency communications volunteers from across eastern North Carolina will meet at The Filling Station in Pollocksville on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025, for a Traffic Handling Seminar focused on formal radio message handling and the National Traffic System (NTS).

The free workshop, scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon, will be led by John Riley, KO4OFO, North Carolina Section Net Control Station. Participants will learn standardized message formats and procedures used to move information efficiently during public service events and emergencies.

The session will include both classroom instruction and hands-on exercises, covering message formatting, transmission techniques, and relay coordination. The training also supports volunteers active in AUXCOMM, the American Red Cross, SATERN, and other emergency communication programs.

Organizers say the event is open to anyone interested in amateur radio, including newcomers and experienced operators seeking a refresher.
