We have exciting news! The Filling Station has been named a 2023 Chick-fil-A True Inspiration Award grant recipient! We have received $75,000 to further our work in Jones County, NC The True Inspiration Awards were established in 2015 to carry on Chick-fil-A Founder S. Truett Cathy’s legacy of generosity and community service. To be selected, a nonprofit must work to address a key issue that aligns with Chick-fil-A’s corporate social responsibility priorities: Caring for People, Caring for Others through Food, Caring for Our Communities, and Caring for our Planet. Filling Station to Host New Bern Amateur Radio Club’s Winter Field Day

The New Bern Amateur Radio Club (NBARC), our first Filling Station partner (W4EWN repeater is housed in our building), will be having its annual Winter Field Day at the Filling Station on January 28th, 2023. This field day event is held to give amateur radio operators (HAMS) all over the world a chance to test their radio equipment outdoors and under alternate power to simulate field use in case of emergency. Cow Pie Bingo WINNER – Perfect 10 Event

Pictured from left to right: Bobby Darden, Event Co-Chair, Willie Smith, Karen Plaster, Event Co-Chair Congratulations to Willie Smith as the winner of the Cow Pie Bingo this year! Although we canceled the event due to Tropical Storm IAN, we still continued to sell tickets to raise awareness and funds for the mission. On November 8th, we held a drawing for all the ticket numbers purchased. We sold 245 tickets and the winner received 10% of the PIE.

Coastal Women’s Shelter – Annual Prayer Vigil held at the Filling Station

Coastal Women’s Shelter held their annual Prayer Vigil on Oct 27th in the newly renovated space. The music, sharing of stories, and learning more about how to advocate for victims of Domestic Violence. We celebrated our friend Lisa Moore who is retiring from CWS after 23 yrs.
